Non Italian Artists
Although the most well known artists of the Renaissance might have been Italian, there were many artists outside of Italy who created beautiful works and contributed to the Renaissance.

Albrech Dürer [1471 - 1528] Albrecht Dürer, frequently written Durer or Duerer in English, was a German Renaissance painter, printer, and thinker. Dürer, a Nuremberg native, became well-known and influential in Europe in his twenties as a result of his excellent woodcut prints. His works include Self Portrait at the Age of Twenty Eight, Adam and Eve, and The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Hieronymus Bosch [1450-1516] Hieronymus Bosch was a dutch/netherlandish artist who created surreal paintings, and was a very influential and important figure during the renaissance. His works include The Garden of Earthly Delights, Tondal’s Vision, and The Last Judgment.

El Greco [1541-1614] El Greco (his real name was Domḗnikos Theotokópoulos) was from Crete, but moved to italy in his late 20’s. He studied renaissance art there, and his famous works include View of Toledo, The Disrobing of Christ, and Laocoon.

Jan Van Eyck [1390-1441] Jan Van Eyck was a painter from the Netherlands known for his incredibly detailed works, and according to some historians, invented oil painting. His paintings include Portrait of a Man, Annunciation, and Arnolfini Portrait.

Joachim Patinir [1483-1524] Netherlandish painter Joachim Patinir was well known for his broad and detailed landscapes, making the people in them feel miniscule. His most famous works include Charon Crossing the Styx, Rest on the Flight into Egypt, and Landscape with Saint Jerome.
