Leonardo DaVinci [1452-1519] - A Renaissance man of many interests, including painting, science, architecture, and more. His most notable works include the Mona Lisa, the Vitruvian Man, and The Last Supper. Michelangelo [1475-1564] - Michelangelo was a painter, sculptor, architect, and poet during the renaissance. His notable works include David, The Creation of Adam, and The Sistine Chapel ceiling. Giovanni Bellini [1430-1516] - Giovanni belonged to a family of artists, and is said to have transformed venetian painting and coloring. His most famous works include The Agony in the Garden, Madonna del Prato, and Portrait of Doge Leonardo Loredan. Sofonisba Anguissola [1532-1625] - Sofonisba was a female painter, and paved the way for other female painters in Italy. She painted many important people, and was even declared a lady in waiting for the Spanish queen, who was also an aspiring painter. Her famous works include her self portraits, The Game of Chess, and Portrait of the Artist's Family. Cosme Tura [1430-1495] - Also known as Cosimo Tura, Cosme was a painter for the court. He also was a founder of the School of Ferrara. His works include Pieta, A muse [Calliope], and Penitent Saint Jerome. |
